The dry forest of Ankarafantsika provided mega birds and mammals including Van Dam’s vanga, Madagascar fish eagle and jacana, white-breasted mesite, Schlegel’s asity, mongoose lemur or Coquerel’s sifaka.

A fieldwork stay in this research station in the middle of Madagascar’s montane rainforest resulted in living among incredible endemics: sunbirds, vangas, tetrakas, cuckoo-rollers, lemurs, geckos, chameleons and more.

Mauritius capital city turned out to bear good numbers of the endemic and endangered Mauritius flying fox. Curlew and Terek sandpipers or greater sand plovers occur in the city’s Terre Rouge bird sanctuary.

Within Ankarafantsika National Park, Lake Ravelobe holds an enchanting, mysterious beauty. Highly endangered Coquerel’s sifaka, Madagascar fish eagle, and Madagascar jacana are some specialties.
