I am currently birding in Norwegian Lapland with friends. Unfortunately, a recent oil spill is affecting numerous seabirds. We notice its impact mostly on common and thick-billed murres, Atlantic puffins, and black-legged kittiwakes.
A visit to Kongsfjordfjellet in early June provides an incredible scenery and wonderful Arctic specialties: horned lark, long-tailed jaeger, red-throated pipit, Lapland longspur, long-tailed duck, red-necked phalaropes, and lekking ruffs.
